How do I move my company file from one computer to another?

To move company files from one computer to another, Intuit recommends
that you use a portable company file. The portable company file does not
simply copy the data for your company; it compresses the data into a smaller
file.

1.To move your company file:

1 Create a portable company file on the source computer:
a Go to the File menu and click Save Copy or Backup.
b Click Portable company file and then click Next.
c Select the drive (hard drive, CD, or ZIP disk) where you want to
save the portable company file. You can use the same filename or
enter a new name.
d Click Save.

2 Take the media containing your portable company file to the computer
to which you want to move your company file.


3 Open the portable company file on the destination computer:

a  Go to the File menu and click Open or Restore Company.
b  Click Restore a portable file and click Next.
c  Browse to select the portable company file you want to restore,
click Open, and then click Next.
d Browse to select and change the location and file name of the
company file that will be created and opened from the portable
company file. If you select an existing company file, it will be
overwritten with the data from the portable company file.
e Click Save.
